In recent years, the technologies of mobile communication and mobile location have achieved great development, which brings a new chance for social application of geospatial information.80% of information in our world is related to spatial location. The requirement of geospatial inforamtion is both necessary and inevitable.Location Based Service comes into being under the promotion of technical development and social demands. The core technology of LBS is GIS.The rising of LBS brings new application pattern and realizing method for GIS.LBS using J2EE/XML dicussed in the article is the innovation of new application pattern and realization method of GIS. From the perspective of data flow and system architecture, the building of LBS is dicussed. Some research has been done as the following.1. The transporting technology of geospatial data using XML in LBS.Data fusion, geospatial modelling and cGML in LBS is dicussed.2. The visualization technology of spatial data using SVG in LBS.The SVG and mobile SVG specifications are analysed. The safety of XML/SVG is dicussed. In the mean while, the comparison of cGML and mobile SVG is made to the mobile side.3. Based on the analysis of principles of the design for LBS, the whole LBS architecture, data cummunaication between tires,Web component, and EJB component are designsed under the J2EE platform.4. Some practice is made on the server side. The formulation of application schema, the generation of GML from the Oracle queries, the transformation of property exchange format to GML,the transformation of GML to SVQand the realization of some basic function in SVG are included. At last, the navgating and monitoring data using SVG is published.
