With the rapid development of industry, the increasing of the levels and types of fine particulate matter has made a great threat to occupational health and safety. Pulse-jet cartridge filter is widely used in many industries because of its big area in per unit volume, high collection efficiency and low running resistance. The filter cartridge is one of the important components of the pulse-jet cartridge filter, which affects the operating effect of the whole pulse-jet cartridge filter. The number of folds has an important impact on the structure, the filter area and the cleaning effect of the cartridge filter. In order to study the influence of the pleats on the performance of the pulse-jet cartridge filter, peak pressures of the cartridges(Φ325×660 mm) with different pleats(100, 155, 180) were tested by using several piezoelectric sensors on a pulse-jet experimental bench. Under the pulse pressure of 0.4-0.6 MPa, the peak pressures of the cartridges with different pleats(100, 155, 180) are optimal with the pulse-jet distance of 220 mm; Test the pulse pressure in the range of 0.4-0.6 MPa on the condition of the jet distance of 220 mm, the results show that all the peak pressures of the cartridges with different pleats(100, 155, 180) are the best when the pulse pressure is 0.5 MPa; With the same combination of injection parameters, the peak pressures of cartridges with different pleats(100,155,180) show a decreasing trend, that is, the greater the pleats, the smaller the peak pressures is.In the simulated industrial dust collector, the gas-solid concentration is 40g/Nm3. At the same filtration velocity, the resistance of the cartridges with different pleats(100, 155, 180) shows an increasing trend, which means that the resistance increases with the increasing of the number of pleats. However, with the same air flow, after the cartridge filter had run 10 min, the results show that the systematic resistance is smaller while the number of pleats is greater. What’s more, after 30 min, the resistance of three cartridges would be almost the same level. But after a pulse-jet cleaning, the filtration resistance is 136 Pa, 125 Pa, 142 Pa with the pleats of 100, 155, 180, respectively. This paper designed a pulse cartridge filter with flow of 900 m3/h and gas-solid of 80g/m3 for the LNI-66 A 11kw hierarchical impact mill. At the same time, the industrial tests for the cartridges with different pleats(100,155,180) were carried out. The results show that the resistance are stabilized at 784 Pa, 686 Pa, 735 Pa at the same flow rate and cleaning parameters. It indicates that both the filter area and the cleaning effect shall be considered simultaneously when select cartridge pleats. The results provide a reference in choosing cartridge’s pleats and optimizing the operating conditions of cartridge filter.
