Pulse-jet cartridge filters are widely used in many industries for its significantadvantages. While it still has many technical difficulties need to be improved, especially the dust removal system. The performance of two1inch electromagnetic pulse valve, including BFECelectromagnetic pulse valve and GOYEN electromagnetic pulse valve which withdifferent diaphragm opening and closing speed, were tested on the pulse-jetexperimental table. The results show that the gas pulse time of GOYEN valve isshorter than that of BFEC for at least20ms when the two open holes with commonlyused diameter size of Ф16mm, or short round pipe with the same diameter of Ф25mm as the valve caliber. The former saved11percent consumption of compressed airvolume and has less resistance when outlet pressure peaks of the valves are much thesame. When inlet pressure of compressed air tank is0.6MPa, the actual outlet pressureof electromagnetic pulse valve is only about0.45MPa. Through above experiment, itturns out that diaphragm open degree and speed can be used as indices to evaluate theproperty of electromagnetic pulse valve. The influence of jetting distance on dust removal effect was studied to build ageneral formula for optimized distance design. The formula is as follows,H=((D-d)/2tanα)-h. CFD simulation means was combined with experimental test. Itshows that the formula is usable and the angle parameter to characterize the diffusionof airflow is17.3°in pulse-jet cartridge filter under0.6MPa tank pressure and usingshort round tube nozzle.Different situations of inner flow field of cartridge filter were compared, including installing venturi and without venturi, parallel cartridge filters and tandemcartridge filters, online pulse-jet cleaning and offline pulse-jet cleaning. CFD techniquewas used to simulate the flow field inner cartridge filter. Experimental method wascombined to study the side surface peak pressures of cartridge filters and the largest reverse accelerations of filter material. The results show that numerical simulations arecorrect and reliable. It’s not obvious of increasing the induced air volume andimproving the pressure on upper side surface of cartridge filter by using venturi. The6point test data of pressures and accelerations along the length direction from top tobottom respectively are526Pa,923Pa,1110Pa,1245Pa,1331Pa,1686Pa and-6.5g,-12.7g,-28.1g,-33.4g,-34g,-18.7g. Dust removal effect of using filters in tandemis better than in parallel. It is more difficult adopting online cleaning to remove thedusts from surface of filters than offline cleaning and the former pressure on filter sidesurface is higher than the latter. The above work has certain significance for systemic research and in-depththeoretical study on the pulse-jet dust removal of cartridge filters.
