Grinding is one of important processing method of machining, it use abrasive scratch brush or plough on the work-piece surface to achieve removing material. ”To do a good job, must first sharpen his device.” The manufacture of grinding wheel is the crucial link in the whole grinding process. The properties of the grinding wheel and organization form play a key role on the grinding force, grinding temperature and grinding efficiency, the machining precision and surface integrity and so on. The good or bad of grinding wheel directly affect the quality of grinding. Therefore, in the grinding, in order to improve the grinding performance of grinding wheel, grinding wheel manufacturing technology has been research hot spots problems.Firstly, according tothe phyllotaxis and the grinding theory, this paper put forward a new type of abrasive cluster grinding wheel with phyllotactic pattern. The influence on abrasive cluster configuration form of a number of factors is analyzed. Such as phyllotaxis coefficient, the diameter of abrasive cluster and the arrangement of abrasive cluster.The manufacturing process of the new abrasive cluster grinding wheel has been designed based on metal etching principle and electroplating technology. And abrasive cluster grinding wheelswith different parameters also have been designed by using 3D modeling software Unigraphics NX.Secondly, abrasive cluster grinding wheel were fabricated based on the manufacturing process which has been designed before. The key step is the preparation of corrosion protection layer with phyllotactic pattern, the fabrication of the convex platform surface with phyllotactic pattern and how to realize abrasive cluster controllable configuration on the convex platform surface with phyllotactic pattern. The corrosion protection layer with phyllotactic pattern was fabricated by lithography technology,the convex platform surface with phyllotactic pattern was fabricated by electrolytic etching method,and coating strip electroplating varnish in convex sets clearance to realize abrasive cluster controllable configuration on the convex platform surface with phyllotactic pattern.Then,this paper set the grinding experiment platform, carried out grinding performance tests of abrasive cluster grinding wheel with phyllotactic pattern. The grinding performance tests including the different phyllotaxiscoefficient, abrasive cluster diameter, arrangement of abrasive cluster, grinding parameters of abrasive cluster grinding wheel influenced on grinding performance. The results show that by changing the phyllotaxis coefficient, abrasive cluster diameter, thearrangement of abrasive cluster can achieve optimization of grinding wheel; and select the appropriate grinding parameters can achieve good grinding performance of abrasive cluster grinding wheel; abrasive cluster grinding wheel with phyllotactic pattern is superior to other abrasive cluster arrangement in grinding performance.Finally, this paper presented a simulation to the flow state of the grinding fluidin the grinding zone by FLUENT. The simulation results show that grinding fluid flow uniformly in grinding zone of abrasive cluster grinding wheel with phyllotactic pattern; and more uniformly than other abrasive cluster arrangement grinding wheel.
