It has been nearly 150 years from appearance of belt conveyor to successful application of super-long belt conveyor. However technology developing of belt conveyor in China is still at initial stage in this industry, there is big development space in application of super-long belt conveying technology to transport bulk material as ore, coal etc. Advantages of super-long belt conveyor are high efficiency, energy-saving, green environment protection etc. Belt conveyor has been applied in many cases instead of automobile transportation. Compared to the common transportation mode-common trough conveying and pipe conveying, the U-type conveying we newly developed has several advantages:investment saving, energy-saving and green environment protection etc. It will play a dominant role in developing of super-long belt conveying in the future.Based on conveying features of super-long belt conveyor and common transportation mode in present market, this paper presents a general designing study scheme for super-long belt conveyor, braking parts in whole conveying system, selecting methods and attentive problems of brake based on related application examples. The paper also emphatically studies technologies of U-type conveyor, parameters comparison between U-type conveyor and pipe conveyor, several determination experiments. It solves technical difficulties of material leaking in common trough belt conveyor and high investment cost inpipe conveyor with a set of reasonable super-long belt conveying technology.The super-long belt conveyor this paper presents can realize super-long transportation with big capacity and no limitation of complex terrain. It can dramatically reduce cost of manpower, vehicle fuel and spare parts and risk of vehicle transportation, material conveying efficiency can be highly promoted. Result of comparison between super-long conveyor and vehicle transportation shows that transportation efficiency can be promoted 98% if applying super-long conveyor instead of vehicle transportation, meanwhile less automobile exhaust leading to social benefit of green environment protection. The research result of this paper has been put into market and applied in industry of coal mine, metallurgy, cement, seaport etc. with widespread application value.
