Manufacturing is the basis of the development on physical civilization in the society, which directly effects the progress of the national economy. While, the forming machines are one of the most important equipments in manufacturing and also are the main equipments in some other industries, such as information, electricity, mechanary, automobile, instrument, and so on. Based on AC servomotors, NC Heavy Duty Mechanical Driving is a combination of new and high technology (information technology, auto control, modern electrotechnics, new material, etc.) and traditional mechanical technology. Used as main driving in forming equipment, it can replace servo hydraulic systems with the advantages of both servo hydraulic and mechanical systems, improving equipment intelligent level, reliability and working performances.This paper introduces the current situation of the servo presses at present in brief. The feasibility of this kind of presses is analyzed, and also the research approaches adopted under present technical and economic condition is determined. According to the design plan and the performance requirement, structure scheme is established. Further more, mathematic model of the whole electromechanical system is set up by structure and theory analyses to the servo driven press. With the mathematic model, the simulation model based on MATLAB/Simulink software is set up and the simulation experiments are carried out according to the parameters of the servo driven test press. The scheme and procedure of the experiments are expatiated in the experimental part in this paper. The results of the simulation and the experiment are indicated as followed:1. The operation characteristics, rotate speed, phase current curves of the servomotor and the displacement, velocity curves of the slide from the simulation are conformed with the theory and practice, the simulation model is accurate and effective.2. The servo driven press can realize the any operation curves of the slide, at the same time, it can well complete the operation of blanking and deep drawing under various operation characteristics. During this course, the press works steadily.3.
