The demand for steel strip in our national economy , especially for steel strip of hot rolling ,is increased rapidly in recent years, and more requirement of high quality of the products is presented to factory. Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co.Ltd have to carry on the craft to optimize actively faced request of markets and make certain effect. But there are some question remained yet that many kinds of wave appear occasionally and shape is unstable in the time of rolling.As we all know, the shape problem of the strip is very difficult to solve. The rolling analysis of three-dimension of strip, which is the difficult point and weak link in the rolling theoretical research, is the theoretical foundation that the shape of the strip controls. There are great deal of problems have not been solved yet after many years researched. This paper uses the CAE simulation software package-MSC.Marc, based on the production data of the steckel mill, to set up three-dimensional heat machine coupled finite element model, simulate the rolling course of this rolling mill, calculate hot deformation and machine deformation, and carry on the systematic theory and industry's real application study on the formulation of the roller type.The paper studies the theory of the rolling course of steckel mill at first. Rolling course has been simulated by MSC.Marc, and rolling characteristic and mechanism has been researched. Secondly, simulating the temperature field and elasticity of the roll, the preliminary roller type curve has been designed. Moreover , the finite element model of plasticity in three-dimensional heat-machine coupling of rollers have been set up, hot deformation and machine deformation of the roller have been calculated, and roller type have been adjusted, fitted and proved. Finally, compared the calculating roller type curve with the current roller type, the strip board shape is better and quality is more steady, which proved that the designed roller type is in effect.
