With the development of our economy in china, the demand for steel strip, especially steel strip of hot rolling, has increased rapidly. Facing this demand of the market, Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co.Ltd has fetched in a double standing steckel mill from TIPPINS company, optimized the procedure of production, and gained some accomplishment. However, there are some problems remained yet that the plate shape is a little unstable in the time of rolling. It is urgent to find a new suitable curve of roller type to make its production better, and prolong the period of roller change.Traditional way to design the curve of roller type mainly depends on the experience deserved during rolling course. It is not only time-consuming, cycle-longed but also wasteful in money. Finite element simulation is a applicable,fast,and economical way to design roller types. This paper has adopted large-scale and universal finite element software MSC.Marc, using the production data of double standing steckel mill of Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co.Ltd as the basic, the computer simulation as the instrument, put forward three simulation projects, analysed the pros and cons and the degree of realization of each project, with consideration the computer's capability, choosed the third project—designing the curve of roller type from consideration of loading roller slot shapes.Under reasonable assumed conditions, this paper has abstracted a simple and reasonable computer simulation model from complicated real problems, made general and embedded calculation analyse in the rolling process of roller heat distribution, figured out the temperature distribution in the axle direction and radius direction of roller under long time rolling condition. This calculation has provided credible data for the roller energetics analyse, made the basic for the curve design of roller type. In the elastic deformation research of roller during rolling process, by using Young'modulus of the roller material as the bridge artfully, the three-dimensional calculation model predigesting to planar condition has realized. And at last has designed a series of curve of roller types according to this project, validated and optimized them with considering the practical data of Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co.Ltd, and educed final curve of roller types in different condition.
