Ggmsidering the phy siological and clinical characteristics of the patient with senile hypeition, refening to classical and present literatures, this article considers that difeciemcy of Qi, blood stasis and obstruction of channels are important pathoqeneses for senile hypertension, suqqestion that supplementing Qi and invigourating blood to remove channel obstruction is a key approach to this disease,The 100?case patients with se- nile hypertension is randomly divided into 2 goups: the experimental gmop (60 cases) to be trea~d with Yang Zang Tong [no hang Ya He hi; and control group to be treated with nifeclipine. the notable efficiency for the experimental group is 55% ,and the total efllcierxy is 86.7 0/cwithout obvious difference against the control group The notable efficiency for symptom improvement is 60% ,and the total efficiency is 93.3%, which is preferable to the control group. The pressure reduction is gradual is the second group and the blood pressure is relatively stable after it is lowered to the ideal degree with lit- tie fluciation. Meanwhile such symptoms as headache, dazzleness ,fatigue, tinnitus etc, are lowered, wiffi niicrocirculation improved, All the above shows that supplementing Qi and invi~urating blood to remove channel obstniflon is effective in treating senile hy- pertension. This study on senile hypertension is highly valuable in terms of guiding clin- ical prtice, enriching and depening TCM in treating senile hypertension...
