| The climacteric syndrome refers to a series of symptoms occurring during theperi-menopausal period. It is a common syndrome seen during the transitional period fromsexual maturity to senility. It is mainly a series of symptoms due to the gradual declination ofthe ovarian function, resulting in physical and psychological changes. This disease iscategorized into the "peri-menopausal period symptoms" of TCM After summarizing 40 years of clinical experience, and combined knowledge of modemmedicine, my tutor, Professor Xiao Chengzong believes that a deficiency of liver-yin andkidney-yin and a breakdown of normal physiological coordination between the heart, and thekidney are the main pathogenesis of the syndrome. In treatment, she gave much importance tonourishing the kidney and liver and restoring normal coordination between the heart fire and thekidneywater. Some of the Chinese medicinal herbs include rehmannia dried root(sheng dihuang), glossy privet fruit (nv zhen zi), eclipta(han lian cao), woltberry fruit(gou qi zi), whitepeony root (bai shao), lotus plumule (lian zi xin), salted wind-weed rhizome(yah zhi mu), lilybulb(bai he), dragon's bone(sheng long gu), oyster shell(sheng mu Ii), red sage root (dan shen),puncture-vine caltrop fruit (bai ji Ii), flat-stem milkvetch seed (tong ji Ii), and etc. The therapyof Chinese medicinal herbs showed good clinical results In this research, we used Professor Xiao Chengzong s Chinese medicinal herbs, treated30 patients suffering from climacteric syndrome with the pathogenesis of the deficiency ofliver-yin and kidney-yin and a breakdown of normal physiological coordination between theheart and the kidney. We performed a l-month experiment comparing symptoms before andafter treatment. The laboratory values of the serum E2, FSH, LH and P acquired before and afterthe treatment are also compared. Using the Kupperman scoring method, we evaluated thesymptoms before and after treatment The results are as follows: 11 samples showed visible effectiveness (36.6%), 19 samplesresulted in moderate effectiveness (63,4%). The total effective rate is 100%. This proved thatthe formula showed remarkable clinical effectiveness in treating the climacteric syndrome ofthe deficiency of liver- yin and kidney-yin and a breakdown of normal physiologicalcoordination between the heart and the kidney type. Lab results show that the serum FSH andLH lowered after treatment, E2 showed an increasing tendency compared to the pre-treatmenttest, while P showed lowered after treatment. This proves that the formula has its effects inregulating endocrinology disorders... |
