Alternanthera philoxeroides(Mart.)Griseb.,has been used for the treatment of acute brain fever,measles and herpes zoster as a folk medicinal herb.Pharmacological studies indicated that the extract of A.philoxeroides has antivirus,antibacterial and molluscicidal activities.Based on its pharmacology and clinical research,we have carried on relevant experiments on it.The extraction and isolation from the whole plants of A. philoxeroides were accomplished and 10 constituents were isolated from its petroleum ether fraction by various kinds of chromatography.Seven of them were isolated on the basis of spectral data as follows:β-sitosterol(Ⅰ),α-spinasterol(Ⅱ),ursolicacid(Ⅲ),genkwanin (Ⅳ),daidein(Ⅴ),quercetin(Ⅵ),blumenolA(Ⅶ),oleanolicacid 3-0-〔β-D-glucuronopyranosyl〕-28-0-β-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅸ).CompoundⅣ,V were isolated for the first time from Alternanthera genus.Fractions were re-subjected to anti-human influenza virus (anti-H3N2)screening,with the result that acetic ether fraction could anti-H3N2 to some degree.The fraction from CHCL3:MEOH(7:3)have the more evidently effect on anti-H3N2 in acetic ether fraction.At the same time the compounds extracted from acetic ether fraction were also tested in anti-H3N2 experiment and also got promising result that mixture of compoundⅧwere very active in anti-H3N2,compoundⅤalso acquired some anti-H3N2 activity.Meanwhile,N-trans-feruloyl tyramine, lignocericac,Oleanolic acid extracted from Alternanthera philoxeroides (Mart.)Griseb.by the former researchers were tested in anti-HBV experiment and also got promising result and N-trans-feruloyl tyramine were very active in anti-HBV. According to the anti- HBV experiment,we made a quantitative research on N-trans-feruloyl tyramine by HPLC.As a result,the quality standard was established.After the research of its Fingerprint Spectrum by HPCE,we have established a fingerprint analysis method about Alternanthera philoxeroides of different habitat.Through analyzing the fingerprint of all samples,18 peaks were assigned common peaks in the spectrum of terraneous ecotype,while 18 peaks were assigned common peaks in the spectrum of aquicolous ecotype.It can be seen from this research that the numbers of peaks in the spectrum of aquicolous ecotype are more than that in the spectrum of terraneous ecotype.In short,this research not only elucidate the relationship between quality of medical plant and its ecotype,but also provide sufficient reference for establishing a international quality specification.
