Chinese modern poetry as an important part of Chinese reading teaching, the cultivation of student’s Chinese accomplishment has special significance, but it is not valued in the practical teaching, especially in high school, modern poetry teaching become a mere formality, the obsolete teaching methods, not fully embody modern poetry style characteristics, students’ learning attitude in modern poetry also there is a deviation. To cause to the attention of the modern poetry teaching, make full use of modern poetry teaching value, in this paper, in combination with the teaching significance of modern poetry puts forward several feasible strategies, in the hope of contributing to the promotion of high school teaching quality of modern poetry.In this paper, based on the current Chinese textbooks for high schools are studied and points of view, with Chinese curriculum and teaching theory, education, education psychology, literature and the related theory on the basis of Chinese modern poetry. Mainly adopts the research methods are literature research and questionnaire survey.This study concluded that modern poetry is to improve students’ appreciation ability and cultivating students’ aesthetic temperament and interest, enrich students’ emotional experience, cultivating students’ thought of literary teaching significance, cultivate students’ imagination. To strengthen the importance of modern poetry and teaching, by stimulating interest, pay attention to reading, increase the proportion of modern poetry teaching, methods of improving teachers’ teaching ability of modern poetry, can effectively improve the teaching quality of modern poetry.The first chapter is introduction.The second chapter of modern poetry in the language teaching predicament- on the survey on winning high school in Dalian. Introduction to modern poetry teaching situation investigation, including the design and implementation of the questionnaire, data processing and analysis, the main problems of inductive analysis, the modern poetry is valued, students’ learning enthusiasm is not high, modern poetry classroom efficiency is low, the language teacher own quality is not enough.The third chapter is modern poetry teaching. Reasons include: the limits of the social cultural education system, teacher education narrow field of vision, teaching material design is reasonable, the super utilitarian gap of beauty.The fourth chapter modern poetry teaching significance. From to improve students’ appreciation ability and cultivating students’ aesthetic temperament and interest, enrich students’ emotional experience, cultivating students’ thought of literary, cultivate the students’ imagination it expounds the teaching of the meaning of modern poetry.The fifth chapter the teaching strategy of modern poetry. Include: a variety of means to stimulate interest, attaches great importance to the poetry recitation class, increase the proportion of modern poetry teaching abilities, improve teachers’ modern poetry.Chapter vi strategy implementation effect.
