China has become the largest manufacturing country in the world, and metal processing as the base of manufacturing industry is essential. In the metal cutting process, what needs to carry on first is the sheet metal cutting processing. Among so many cutting and processing equipments, CNC (computer numerical control) cutting machine for its unique advantages has become the first choice of sheet metal processing. CNC cutting machine technology is originated in Europe and the United States, and relevant core technology is in the hands of their associated enterprises. Starting from the late1970s, domestic CNC cutting machine got greater progress, but was mainly depending on purchasing CNC system and homemade peripheral accessories pattern. After20years’development, domestic CNC cutting machine technology has obtained the rapid development, and has developed a number of CNC cutting machine system. But at present, including domestic CNC cutting machine system, the prices are still high, which affects the use of the CNC cutting machines in China’s small and medium-sized enterprises.Based on the purpose to develop an economy of CNC cutting machine system, a CNC cutting machine system is developed with the cooperation of a CNC cutting machine manufacturer. CNC cutting machine system comprises two parts with a hardware platform and a software system. The hardware platform is the foundation, while the software system is the core. The software system of the CNC cutting machine contains the servo control, the graphic display of the processing code, real-time tracking, graphics transform, peripheral interface control, man-machine interface, etc.In this paper, it firstly analyzes the application scopes of CNC cutting machine, technology status and development trend; According to the market and user research, combined with the actual situation of CNC cutting machine, it determines the basic functionalities (the display and tracking) of the CNC cutting machine. Secondly it analyzes the CNC system’s software application; meanwhile according to the CNC cutting machine software design needs, it chooses the MS-DOS as the operating environment, and DJGPP as the software platform for the software development plan.During the process of the NC code graphic display, firstly it needs to pre-process the NC code. During the pretreatments, it accomplishes the validation and the continuity detection of the NC code, as well as finishes the index of extreme values for the processing graphics. In the graphics display part, via the extraction of the NC code information, combined with extreme index results, after the conversion between the actual location and the display location; it accomplishes the graphic display of the processing code. For the convenience of the user during the cutting process with the CNC cutting machine, in order to return the real-time feedback, it needs to configure the real-time tracking function. In this system, using the certain internal counter of the PCL6025B servo control chip, it accomplishes the extraction of the actual positions in the X and Y axes. Using the extracted data, through the display conversion, it’s added to the graph of the processing component in real-time.It meets the actual demand with the developed CNC cutting machine graphic display and real time tracking software system, and it has been applied to the CNC cutting machine system.
