The2030continuous tandem cold mill supply strip for the next line,such as heat treatment or CPL. After2005,because consumer has more demands about the strip specification, specially needs more high-strength steel, so TCM’s control technology should be improved as well as. Other side, when line is running, variable specification steel increased the roll-change times. So to avoid fail of the start-up of TCM is important for the quality and production.This paper bases on variable producing process and the data collection, and we research the TCM’s technology and milling theory. It includes the parameters and the variable function, such as interstand tension control, difference tension control, screw down system control, screw tilt control, roll bending control, driver control, master ramp generator, material tracking, line coordinator control and so on.. Base on the upon research, we conclude the method of the roll-force, and analyzed the process data to revamp the roll-force controller when the line start-up. According to the process data recording, we research the difference between the set point and actual value about tension controller. And this paper also researches the control specification of the twin drivers in2030cold rolling mill, and supports the better parameters of the load balancing.According to the research conclusion, we get and analyze the data from local to provide some solutions to resolve the strip skew and strip break when this cold rolling mill start-up. To attack this problem, we first purpose the whole procedure of the total tension control and difference tension control when the line start-up. And then, we focus on the roll-force controller, and find the method of the roll-force control after roll-changed, the brake performance of the tension control rolls set in the TCM’s entrance, and the stabilization of the system when the line accelerating are the important factors, and we give some relative solutions for these problem. Before the method our performed, this TCM’s start-up failed5.6times per month, after used these methods, the fail times decreases to0.5times per month. This research conclusion can support some of the guidance and reference for other cold rolling mills.
