Loneliness is essential effects of mental health to high school students.Long-term or serious loneliness arouses disadvantage to physical and mental healthdevelopment, affects the academic standard and the ability of life. Many researches onloneliness have been made in western countries in 1970s. In recent years, the progressof the development of studies on area of loneliness is very quickly in China, but mostresearches are mainly the data statistics and questionnaire survey. The intervention hasbeen paid a little attention. Particularly the intervention on loneliness of high schoolstudents is very rarely. Therefore, we selected high school students as a researchgroup and mainly used the third edition of the UCLA loneliness scale,filtered out 30high loneliness students, train the high lonely students by group counselinginterventions.We wish to explore the effective way to improve the loneliness of seniorhigh school and to develop their active and healthy psychological quality.In this study, the freshmen from the 18th high school are used to be researchsubjects. The research is based on interpersonal communication theory,groupdynamics theory and social learning theory and so on. I train the high lonely studentson their cognition, emotion and behavior by group counseling interventions. I try toseek for effective ways to depress the loneliness of high school students. Someconclusions of this study are follows:1. After counseling intervention, the levels of loneliness of experimental groupstudents have been depressed significantly, compared with the control group, theeffect is very obvious (p<.001). This shows that this intervention achieved certaineffects.2. This intervention experiment also improved the levels of mental health of thehigh lonely students by counseling effectiveness questionnaire.3. Group counseling has some effects on improving the loneliness of high schoolstudents and provides theoretical and practical instruction for school mental health education or counseling.According to the actual situation of our students,the intervention is based on thetheories such as interpersonal communication, group dynamics and social learning soon. This shows that the intervention method which focuses on the changes ofcognition, emotion, behavior is practicable.
