High School Students’ Handwriting Errors And Learning Strategies In Thailand

From the Thai THEPMITR High School students’ handwriting survey I found that students’ Chinese characters errors mainly be:strokes errors:the length of the strokes mishandled;strokes of the increases and decreases; deformation of stroks.components errors:lack components, transform components; mishandled the size and location of components.whole Chinese character errors:confusion of similar Chinese characters. Then analyze the reasons of students to the errors.the main reasons:Chinese characters is complex,the students ’understanding of the Chinese characters is not enough; lack of professionalism of teachers; native language influence;Textbook difficulty does not match the actual level of the students;learning strategies influence. On this basis, the author proposes four strategies on the teaching of Thai high school students of Chinese characters, namely:three-pronged approach to stimulate students’ interest in learning Chinese characters; step by step, focusing on the Chinese character strokes, components teaching; timely contrast and induction; emphasis on the learning strategies of Chinese characters in the teaching of Chinese character process. I hope to give teachers teaching in the Thai Chinese characters some inspiration.
