A Comparison Study On Phonology Of Dachengqiao Dialect In Ningxiang County

There are western Ningxiang accent and eastern Ningxiang accent in Ningxiang dialects. The western Ningxiang accent belongs to the Loushao part of Xiang Dialect, and the eastern Ningxiang accent belongs to the Changyi part of Xiang Dialect. Then how about the central Ningxiang dialect? Is western Ningxiang accent entirely different from eastern Ningxiang accent? Is there any transitional zone between them? This paper will solve these questions by describing the facts of central Ningxiang dialect. We chose Dachengqiao—a little town in central Ningxiang—to do the research of phonetic system and its comparison study, ring to make a conclusion to the dialect system in Ningxiang that fills the study gap of Ningxiang dialects.The thesis falls into five parts.The introduction part puts out the facts of the geography, history, population and the condition of language use of Ningxiang briefly. And we also introduced the general situation of Dachengqiao town and my investigators. It also introduced the presentation of Ningxiang dialect-study and the purpose of our research.The first chapter describes the phonetic system, the features of initial consonant, compound vowel and tone of Dachengqiao accent. The second chapter describes and analyses literary reading and colloquial reading as well as the layers of literary reading and colloquial reading on some characters.The third chapter cleans up the syllabary of Dachengqiao dialect.The fourth part uses the comparative method to find out the inside differences of Ningxiang dialects. According to it, Ningxiang dialects are divided into several districts, then we uses the statistic method to analyses the relationship of the three different accents in Ningxiang dialect.
