Urban Tourist Electronic Map Symbol Library Standards And Map Expression Research

Electronic map, which breakthrough the limitation of the static2-dimension and greatly enriched the expression pattern of themap, is closely integrated by cartography and computertechnology. As the thematic map, the city tourism electronic mapneeds not only highlight the tourism features but also other featuresrelated. At present, the existing travel e-map symbols list is not yetperfect. With the further implementation of this new proposition of the"Smarter Tourism ", the map representation of city tourismgeographic features has the higher requirements in this dynamicenvironment. Therefore, it is imperative to promote the standard orguideline for city tourism electronic map symbols and its maprepresentation. The data support the electronic map representation,so how to organization and management spatial data andcreate high-quality spatial database is the priority issue to consider.The selected map symbols, directly affect the map informationtransfer effect, is also worth in-depth studying.On the basis of tourism electronic map theory, cartographicsemiology theory, cartographic perception theory, this paperdiscusses the construction of city tourism electronic map symbolsystem and the production of city tourism electronic map symbolsreferencing the existing ordinary electronic map symbol list and thesymbolic connotation of the traditional paper maps. Moreover, thispaper pays emphasis on the content of urban tourism electronic map,delamination design, layer configuration and then establishes the citytourism information database which maps the whole procedure ofdata collection, processing and storage. Map representationresult is successfully applied to Daqing Smarter Tourism ComprehensiveInformation Platform. Finally, this paper achieves the city tourism symbol library sharing by use of transplanting marker symbol librarycreated by the TrueType font to MapServer platform to representthe city tourism features.
