Primary dysmenorrhea is very common in adolescent girls, it has a high incidence and impacts the study, work and normal lives of patients. This article collected the documents ahout Chinese and Western medicine treatments of primary dysmenorrhea in recent years. It is clear that there is many ways to treat primary dysmenorrhea in traditional Chinese medicine, the effect is significant. Patients could select suitable and effective methods according to their actual situation. Because the effect of traditional Chinese medicine is obvious, the recurrence rate and side effect is low. Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage and other methods, play an important role in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. Therefore, Chinese medicine treatment of primary dysmenorrhea with a promising future clinically, should actively develop its advantages. Furthermore, in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, people often ignore psychological factors. Recurrent dysmenorrhea can lead a vicious cycle of physical discomfort and psychological obstacle. Based on the prevention and treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, we should also pay attention to psychological therapy, guide the patients to relax and do self-care. Physical activities, proper nutrition and adequate sleep, also help to increase optimism, improve the patient’s mental states, to cure the primary dysmenorrhea.This article used shaofuzhuyu modified decoction to observe the clinical effect of primary dysmenorrhea of the type of congealing cold and blood stasis.Methods:Collect25patients with primary dysmenorrhea of the type of congealing cold and blood stasis. Use shaofuzhuyu modified decoction in7days before menses. After3menses, observe the effect by contrasting symptom scores and VAS scores before and after the treatment.Results:Cure3cases, excellence12cases, effectiveness6cases, mullity4cases, the total effectiveness is84%. The contrast of symptom scores and VAS scores before and after the treatment has much significant difference (p<0.01), after statistic processing. There is no side-effect in the observation. Conclusion:(1) The patients have severe dysmenorrhea in a long time, they see a doctor because they really can not stand the pain. The dysmenorrhea may become stubborn, and can not be cured easily. Patients become afraid of it. We suggest that patients should see a doctor early with psychological cure. It makes the disease easy to cure.(2) Shaofuzhuyu modified decoction could disperse cold, activate blood circulation and relieve the pain to cure primary dysmenorrhea of the type of congealing cold and blood stasis. It can relieve the pain of dysmenorrhea effectively, simultaneously may improve accompanying symptoms. So it has positive significance to guide the treatment clinically.(3) Shaofuzhuyu modified decoction for the primary dysmenorrhea of the type of congealing cold and blood stasis is safe without side-effect.
