There are two main purposes of this paper. The first one is to investigate andsummarize the current teaching situation of “style” in folk dance of arts institutions inChina. The second one is to analyze the reasons causing existing problems and figure outeffective suggestions and measures accordingly. Four main methods including interview,fieldwork, observation and literature review were adopted to demonstrate it. The essenceof exploring the teaching methods of “style” in folk dance is the process in which probehow a nation inherits its cultural spirit. In this process, the dynamic and culture of folkdance were synthesized to endow rich implications to ethic culture. Taking the YunnanArts University as the researching object, this research proposed a innovative researchmodel by discussing the importance of “style” in folk dance teaching and comparing theexisting traditional teaching methods to expand to the practical meaning of the “style” infolk dance in the local arts universities of Yunnan, enabling more people to realize that the“style” teaching in folk dance is a more complete teaching model in which maintains moreextensive teaching form,more specific content and more desirable outcome. Furthermore,this type of model can practically develop and promote the teaching of national folk dancewith the aid of national culture In the chapter one, the merits and demerits betweentraditional teaching methods and the “style” method of folk dance were expounded.Through the comparison, It is founded that more content with “style” that contains nationalcultural implications should be combined on the basis of keeping the acting training valueof traditional folk dance, making it boast more national cultural deposits and evaluate itsstrengths, glittering in the future platform of folk dance.In the chapter two, the status quoof “style” teaching method in Yunnan Arts University was stated, various problems facedand the solutions proposed were discussed. In the chapter three, the researcher proposedthe reasonable conceive of how to executive “style” teaching in folk dance in artsuniversities on the basis of current situation, expecting that the theoretical ground anddeduction could be obtained through the sufficient literature review. Besides, theinnovative teaching model of folk dance is prospected to be introduced and spread,enabling more dance with original national style to be presented on the platform and morenational style could be learnt through folk dance.
