Construction of specialized laboratory is one of most important measurement of the quality of the scientific research and teaching. As the education investment increasing year by year, colleges and universities pay more attention to practical education and purchasing of scientific instruments. Faculty of Engineering, China University of Geosciences(Wuhan), seizes the discipline construction development opportunity, carried out the211project in discipline construction of intelligent multi-function drilling experiment system, which serves scientific research and teaching for deep drilling. The paper comes from this project.Drilling engineering is the most important and reliable method among many exploration technologies. Drilling engineering pay a important role in the national strategic importance of deep prospecting, which provides the most direct basis for store evaluation of mineral resources. The development of earth science is dependent on the core drilling, deep exploration in China program(SinoProbe) including a large number of deep drilling hole. In the meantime, the increasing of exploration depth, drilling difficulty and labor cost are promoting the domestic drilling equipment development automated and intelligence. With the requirement of scientific research and teaching, grasping the development direction of drilling industry, the paper main mission is commissioning test of IDS-8000drilling experimental bench, to realize real-time monitoring drilling parameters and precisely controlling. Finally, establish a hydro-mechatronics multi-functional intelligent drilling experimental bench, which can meet multi-process technique needs and up to relevant scientific research experiment and teaching task.Compared with XY-4core drilling formerly located in the laboratory of drilling, no matter on the performance or structure, IDS-8000drilling experimental bench has enhanced a lot. The experimental bench consists of customized hydraulic core drill, mud pump and computer console, etc. It adopts modular design, which has high expansibility and the characteristics of easy to maintain. Base on the design and application of conventional drilling rig detection and control system, the paper applies a number of modern detection and control technology, in order to realize the function of drilling experimental bench. The automatic and intelligent of bench is embodied in the detection and control system.The content of the detection of the bench are:bit weight, rotary speed, pump volume, pump pressure, torque, drilling rate, temperature of hydraulic system and electric parameters. Bit weight and pump pressure is detected by the pressure transmitters which convert the pressure of hydraulic system or mud circulating system to the current signal. Then through the Ⅰ/Ⅴ convertor input into the data acquisition card. Temperature of the hydraulic system is measured by the platinum thermal resistance temperature. Distinguished from traditional detection method, the paper adopts electromagnetic flow-meter detecting directly. Rotate speed is measured by rotary encoder with the help of electronic length counters. Multi-signal detected by sensors through A/D data acquisition card or serial port input into the industrial computer. Meanwhile, write the detection software with LabVIEW platform.Drilling experimental bench control system contains local control system and remote control center, which are interlock in parallel. Local control system on the basis of the conventional hydraulic valve-controlled add the electrical control system, electro-hydraulic control, which can be manipulated to perform all the drilling action and auxiliary action. Local control system including operating handles, buttons, knobs, solenoid valves, relays, and meters, has a high reliability, convenient operation and convenient maintenance. Remote control center is on the basis of local control, composed of a series of hardware and software, which not only has the mechanical manipulation of the interface, but also has a virtual software operation interface, with a strong extensibility. Drilling experimental bench control system applying the technology of the computer control, frequency control of motor speed technology, electro hydraulic proportional control technology and closed-loop control technology, can accurately stepless control the feed force, rotate speed and pump volume, and realize the automation control of drilling by software.Paper based on virtual instrument technology establishes a professional software platform for various kinds of drilling related experimental study. The bench has reserved a variety of hardware interface, such as16channels analog input,4channels analog output,16channels digital input, PLC extended interface. And develop powerful, strong flexibility and extensibility software applications with the help of LabVIEW.
