Cement is the basic raw materials in the process of economic development. In recentyears, with the rapid development of cement industry, the production of cement in ournation has ranked the first in the world. The increase of cement production brings highenergy consumption. To enhance the core competitiveness, cement industry mustaccelerate its restructuring and the changing of development mode. The use ofpre-calcining kiln as representative’s new drying cement production craft and the adoptionof optimization control strategy have become the development trend and importantfoundation for the sustainable development of cement production enterprise.Grate cooler system is the core components of the new drying cement pre-calciningsystem, and the control method of grate cooler air pressure is very important to heatexchange efficiency and thermal stability of the system. And the stability of grate coolersystem air pressure is in relation to energy consumption of the system. Control process ofgrate cooler system has the characteristics of nonlinearity, large time delay, controlparameter uncertainty, which decide the complexity of control system. The study aimed ata6000t/d clinker production line of cement plant in Shijiazhuang city. On the basis ofanalyzing the craft of grate cooler system, we find out the main influencing factors of airpressure in cement grate cooler system. Taking account of the characteristics of gratecooler system, we use improved BP neural network which can describe the relationshipsamong clinker flow, grate speed, and air pressure value. The algorithm is used to realizepredictive control of air pressure. And the fuzzy controller could give the reasonable gratespeed value by the predict air pressure value.As an engineering project for practical application, we have designed a set of controlsoftware based on the requirements of craft and process control. Data can be exchangedbetween control software and DCS system by OPC technology solutions. The research inthis paper can provide helpful reference for the design of the same kind of cement gratecooler control system.
