As the basic material for the construction of the country,cement plays an important role in the development and construction of the country.At the same time,grate cooler is the core cooling components of cement producing system.It is closely linked with the quality of the cement.The grate cooler is very important to the efficiency of the heat exchange and saving energy.Taking the environment protection and resource saving into account,cement industry must accelerate its restructuring and the changing of development mode.It is not only important but also necessary to apply the advanced science and technology to the cement product so as to get more production with less resource.This paper aims at a clinker production line of cement plant in Hebei province.On the basis of the cooling method of grate cooler,the major factor that impacts the operation of grate cooler and the main points to control it is obtained through careful analysis.Finally,it is determined to use fuzzy control algorithm and diagnosis experts system to control the grate cooler automatically according to the characteristics of nonlinearity,multiple parameter and large time delay.The fuzzy control algorithm is mainly used in fine-tune the system when the minor deviation appears.Taking the speed of the grate bed,the chamber pressure and the thickness of the clinker as the control parameter,the regulating variable of the grate bed's speed is given by calculated to adjust chamber pressure in advance in order to ensure the cooling quality of the clinker and the balance of the heat of the system.When the operating parameter turns into unusual exception,the diagnosis experts system will monitor and debug the failure condition.At the same time the information will be gathered by the sensor and be fused by the information fusion system which is used in the data analyzing and decision-making of the expert system.Finally through inference and decision-making the system can find the proper solutions to ensure that the system can run well.As the control requirement and operating points,the control software is finished finally.Then the software is connected with the DCS system by the OPC technology.The information collected will be analyzed and calculated to get the regulating variable which will be transferred through the OPC interface to the DCS system.And then the control software can control the grate cooler according to the regulating variable.The experimented results show that this control system can achieve the satisfying control effect and the design goal.
