Objectives:1.To understand and analyze the prevalence of myopia among primary school students in the urban area of Lanzhou city.2.To understand the eye-using habits,nutritional status and cognition of myopia prevention of primary school students in urban Lanzhou city by questionnaires.3.To analysis the effects of environmental and behavioral factors associated with myopia among primary school students in the urban area of Lanzhou city, and to provide the evidence for prevention and control of myopia.Methods:Two urban primary schools were randomly selected among Chengguan District of Lanzhou City, then using the cluster random sampling method, from which823students were picked up in order to deploy a census of ophthalmic conditions, including visual inspection, intraocular pressure, computer optometry, refractive media inspection under slit lamp microscope and fundus inspection. Formulate strict inclusion and exclusion criteria.Then the students met the inclusion criteria were asked to complete the relevant factors of myopia questionnaire. For high-grade students.the questionnaires were asked to be completed with the help of the investigators at the scene. For low-grade pupils,they were asked to take the questionnaires home and complete them with the help of their parents.The questionnaire include basic information, posture and habits of reading and writing, time allocation of reading and outdoor activity, and the acknowedgement condition of eye-caring,personal habits.Survey data was entered by the Excel software, using SPSS19.0statistical software for data analysis, analyzing the reletionships between myopia and influcing factors,including posture and habits of reading and writing, time allocation of reading and outdoor activity, and the acknowedgement condition of eye-caring,personal habits. All the factors were analyzed with logistic regression.Results:The prevalence rate of myopia in urban Lanzhou was41.8%, individual behavior and personal habits, the time spent on near-work and outdoor activities may be the main influencing factors.1. Myopia occupy the most important ingredient in refractive errors of urban primary schools’s students from Lanzhou City.Town myopia prevalence rate of41.8%, which accounted for28.9%of low to moderate myopia, moderate myopia (11.2%), high myopia (1.7%); different sexes, males accounted for37.2percent of myopia, myopia,46.1percent of women of different gender There were significant differences (P<0.05) among girls than boys to myopia; first grade pupils of myopia prevalence rate of10.7%; grade of31.0%;33.3%in the third grade; fourth grade was48.2%; fifth grade50.3%, the sixth grade was64.6%showed the prevalence of myopia increases with age and growth.2. Logistic regression analysis showed that after the passage of individual behavior, close eye, outdoor activities and time are the main factors of myopia.Conclusions:The survey shows that myopia of primary students in Lanzhou City was already at a relatively high level, the main risk factors of myopia includes:reading and writing at short distance, poor reading habits (lying down reading and mobile reading), too long time on short distance eye using (homework, watching TV, computer, etc.), paying little attention to active recreation eyes, shorter sleep time, excessive learning pressure, attending more weekend guidence class. Education departments and schools should focus on strengthening comprehensive health interventions of eye behavior guidance, accelerate the transformation of examination-oriented education to quality education, effectively reduce the learning burden; parents should help children distribute the time spent on reading, entertainment and outdoor activities reasonably, to prevent and slow down the occurrence of myopia.
