The Study Of Chinese Dialects Level Exam On Sociolinguistics

Chinese dialects level examination is a kind of exam which imitates the form of CET-4and CET-6are released on the internet by testing pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar of dialects. In2003, it appears on the network which has11years of history. In the background of that the country vigorously promotes mandarin, dialect level exam is a noteworthy phenomenon of sociolinguistics. Therefore, the study has important significance.This paper investigates the dialect level exam in the whole of China with Baidu and Google. On the basis of full investigation, we choose special case and study it from the particular to the general. We research it deeply and carefully from pattern of manifestation, mutual characteristics, reasons of appearance and social influence. This article contains seven parts.Chapter one is the foreword section. It mainly introduces the origin of topic, the source of corpus, the idea and method of the study. At last, I illustrate the research’s goals.The second chapter is general description of dialect level exam. We analyze it from question format, exam method, participants, geographical distribution, dialectal district, regional difference.The third chapter specifically research Hefei words level exam, northeast dialect level exam, Sichuan dialect level exam and Shanxi dialect level exam by using dialect dictionaries, dialect geography and dialect knowledge provided by net citizens.The fourth chapter analyzes common features of the dialect level exam and summarizes the characteristics of it:entertaining, ironic, extraordinary, autonomy and regional.The fifth chapter discusses the reasons of the dialect level exam’s appearance. We analyze it from five aspects:a variety of language exams are flourish, dialect status is rising, political environment is unprecedented relaxed, national ideology is active, network communication’s convenience. The sixth chapter firstly gathers social evaluation about this exam and then describes the author’s own views. I agree with it, because it can enrich amateur lives, protect regional dialects, inherit folk culture, play the function of language. However, we must guide it correctly and reduce negative effects to a minimum.The last chapter is a summary for the whole paper, we summarize the work done in this article and point out that areas for further research.
