With the further development of the tramcar industry in recent years, customer demand for personalized is more and more obvious, the focus of competition among enterprises is turning to provide customers with personalized custom, improve customer satisfaction and enterprise service levels. This poses a great challenge to the method of product design for traditional tramcar enterprises. Therefore, researching a method, which can realize product series design for tramcar, is especially important, specific research content is as follows:(1) According to the existing methods of series design can’t meet tramcar series design, on the basis of the analysis of the similarity theory and model design, further study of the product series design method, combining the model design and product series by comparing the similarities of model design and series design, and proposing the new similar series design method, which is based on the model design, lay a theoretical foundation for subsequent series design.(2) Research on the structure of downside dump car, divisive module from product level to part level and code by. membership coding way on the basis of function and structure analysis. According to the serialization application requirement, author researches on the product assembly model and their modeling methods, analyzes the sketch rendering and feature operation in SolidWorks, and summaries the rules of part’s parametric feature modeling and product assembly method and relation.(3) Use trunk hierarchical model, obtain the expression of trunk dimensionless number. A series of trunk specifications designing is used to give the trunk of specifications series by similarity theory and dimensional analysis, which provides numerical conditions for product series design.(4) According to the reticulated structure formed by mutually constrained product variant parameters. The data storage structure of TLAC and the priority design rule of parts have been researched, which can be used to ensure parameter passing order, in order to establish the accurate and reliable parameter passing channel for product variant, through the parameter passed to map so as to achieve product’s variant design, and adjust drawing view.(5) Research on the mechanical properties of the trunk at full load, obtain the full load condition node displacement and equivalent stress situation of trunk by FEA analysis using ANS YS Workbench, and verify the reliability of series method.(6) According to the demand for product serialization, make the overall framework of the system based on the SolidWorks as the CAD platform, the series design system is developed for downside dump car products using VC++, with the combination of Access.
