Background:With the rapid development of economy, more and more industrial enterprises have been established; occupational hazards control is becoming more important to protect workers’ health.Objective:To understand the current occupational health work condition in the enterprises, to identify the critical points of occupational hazards control and to design the more effective and practical plan and strategy to supervise these work in the enterprises.Methods:Occupational health work condition of3391industrial enterprises in Jingjiang area was investigated. The data on type of occupational hazards, such as dust, chemical and physical agents; their severity at worksites; the exposed population; the available occupational health facilities and management against these hazards; the occupational health surveillance of exposed workers and the reality of occupational diseases were collected and analyzed. All enterprises were classified based on the risk evaluation of occupational hazards. Finally, the control plan and strategy was present on the basis of aim-oriented, the basic occupational hazards prevention model, the PDCA management system and the HACCP.Results:1. Among3391industrial enterprises, there were occupational hazards existed in1216enterprises, the occupational hazards in995enterprises,(29.34%) was ranked as medium and273(8.06%) ranked as heavy. Of185966workers,44701workers are frequently exposed to occupational hazards; especially36442workers (19.6%) had a heavy exposure to occupational hazards. 2. There were various occupational hazards existed in Jingjiang area, including dusts, chemicals and radiations etc. Dusts were major hazards, accounting for81%of exposures, especially during abrasive processing, sand blasting, welding in shipbuilding and vessel manufacturing.3. The number of acute poisoning accident was reported8times;20workers were poisoned and5workers were died during2000to2011.4.45cases of occupational disease were diagnosed in the last ten years. Among them42cases (92%) were pneumoconiosis.5. Few enterprises took the effective control measures to prevent occupational diseases.Conclusion:1. The current control measures in the enterprises couldn’t match up to economic development in Jingjiang area, the updated control management policy, plan and system are needed.2. In the future, the more effective, practical occupational hazards control plan and programs should be established and carried out. More effective implementation strategies will be provided on the basis of scientific management system.
