Objective:To investigate the situation of elderly hypertensive patients with depression and analyze the associated risk factors, as well as to explore the effect of comprehensive intervention on their depressive state and blood pressure. Methods:One hundred and sixteen cases of elderly hypertensive patients were randomly screened and investigated using general condition questionnaire and Geriatric Depression Scale to perform the analysis on depression influencing factors. One hundred and twenty cases of elderly hypertensive patients with depression admitted to our hospital for treatment were taken as the research object for the comprehensive intervention study. They were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with60cases in each group. The elderly hypertensive patients with depression in the control group were treated with nifedipine controlled release tablets, while those in the observation group, based on the administration of nifedipine controlled release tablets, underwent the intervention of fluoxetine and the empathy technique.Results:In116cases of elderly hypertensive patients,45cases were found with depression, with an incidence rate of38.8%. Logistic regression analysis showed that all of age, marital status, sleep, blood pressure classification were the independent risk factors for elderly hypertensive patients with depression. Intervention study shows:After eight weeks of comprehensive intervention, in the observation group, the decline of diastolic and systolic blood pressure was greater, the SDS scores and SAS scores significantly decreased, the quality of life scores were also higher when compared to the control group, all the differences in these indicators above were statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusion:Clinicians should strengthen the recognition of elderly hypertensive patients with depression and, especially, pay close attention to those risk factors easily leading to depression. For those patients, comprehensive intervention can relieve their depression, improve their treatment compliance and contribute to the efficacy of antihypertensive drugs and the quality of life.
