Clinical Study Of Ulcerative Colitis Cure With Mesalazine Plus Kushenin

Objectives Ulcerative colitis is one of the chronic nonspecific inflammatory bowel diseases. The pathogenesis is still unknown clearly. It is still deficiency about the medicine for curing this disease specifically. It is more clearly for understanding traditional Chinese medical science these years. Great progresses are got to cure ulcerative colitis form the point view on traditional Chinese medical science. According to researches reports, the curative effect of ulcerative colitis is better by traditional Chinese medicine especially by taking oral medicine associated with enema. Kushenin is important for detoxification, dispelling pathogenic wind and removing dampness, improving eyesight, nourishing the liver and gallbladder. Research showed that kushenin has essential roles for anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antivirus and immunologic suppression. However, it is unknown whether it is important for ulcerative colitis cure. For given reasonable suggestion for ulcerative colitis cure, this study was designed to investigate the clinical efficacy for ulcerative colitis with damp heat type by taking oral mesalazine associated with kushenin.Methods According to the inclusion criteria, 96 patients who were mild or moderate ulcerative colitis companied with damp heat type bring in this study. All of them were randomly divided into three groups: One group for mesalazine alone, one group for kushenin alone, one group for mesalazine plus kushenin. Four weeks were seen as one period. During this period, vital signs, routine blood and urine test, live and kidney function were observed. In addition, clinlcal symptom, fecal occult blood and colonoscopy were observed before and after treatment.Results ①30 patients were randomly divided into the group for mesalazine alone, 31 patients were randomly divided into the group for kushenin alone, 35 patients were randomly divided into the group for mesalazine plus kushenin. There is no significant difference on sexuality, age, the severity and the course of this disease.②Compared with situation in the group for mesalazine alone and in the group for kushenin alone, the fecal occult blood in the group for mesalazine plus kushenin was improved better. ③Compared with situation in the group for mesalazine alone and in the group for kushenin alone, the intestinal mucosa in the group for mesalazine plus kushenin was improved better.④According to the standard for clinical comprehensive curative effect, the total curative effect is 91.4%(32/35)in the group for mesalazine alone, 86.6%(26/30) in the group for kushenin alone, and 77.4%(26/31) in the group for mesalazine plus kushenin. The comprehensive curative effect in the group for mesalazine plus kushenin was much better than that in the group for mesalazine alone and in the group for kushenin alone. ⑤No significant adverse reaction was seen by taking oral mesalazine associated with kushenin. No significant abnormality was observed in routine blood and urine, live and kidney function before and after cure.Conclusions According to this study, it is feasible for curing ulcerative colitis with damp heat type to take oral mesalazine associated with kushenin.
