Study On The Vocabulary Of Yue Dialect In Mong Cai Vietnam

Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam is the Yue dialect of overseas Chinese spoken in Mong Cai Vietnam, the ancestral home of these overseas Chinese is Fangcheng Guangxi, this overseas Chinese dialect originates Qinlian Yue dialect. This thesis bases on the field investigation and reference materials, chooses from the lexical perspective, takes the vocabulary of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam as the main object of study, meanwhile with the comparative vision to further expand, respectively contrast with the vocabulary of Yue dialect in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam and Yue dialect in Qiaogang Guangxi, hopes to more comprehensively understand the basic evolution in the vocabulary of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam.The main body of the thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, mainly introduces the general situation of research and the phonological system of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam. The second chapter, through the elaboration of four aspects which are retention of ancient Chinese words, inheritance and variation of dialect words, generation of characteristic words, integration of foreign loanwords, to show the lexical overview of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam. The third chapter, from two angles of word formation and culture, comparative analysis the similarities and differences in vocabulary of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam and Yue dialect in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam. The fourth chapter, compare the vocabulary of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam and Yue dialect in Qiaogang Guangxi, from two angles of word formation and culture, reveal the similarities and differences of vocabulary between the two Yue dialects. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, mainly summaries the analysis and comparison of the whole thesis, and points out the innovation and shortcomings.This thesis argues that the lexical overview of Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam, both the internal accumulation of system inheritance, cognitive thinking, and the external effects of language contact, regional environment. The vocabulary comparison between Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam and Yue dialect in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam, show the feature of “similarities and differences equilibrium”. The vocabulary comparison between Yue dialect in Mong Cai Vietnam and Yue dialect in Qiaogang Guangxi, show the feature of “many similarities and little differences”. This let us not only to see the system inheritance of overseas Chinese dialects, but also to understand the regional variation of overseas Chinese dialects.
