The Chinese tones are the important part of Chinese and also the most sensitive components of Chinese phonetic structure. Compared with other non-tone languages, the unique part-4 tones are inevitably difficult for Chinese learners. Based on the theory of error analysis, contrastive analysis and inter-language theory, with the help of questionnaire and experimental phonetics analytical tool–PRAAT, this paper analyzes the tonal acquisition errors in learning Mandarin Chinese of the senior high students in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and discusses teaching strategies, aiming to provide a theoretical basis of teaching Chinese tones for the overseas and local Chinese teachers.
