Football selective course is an important part of physical education curriculum of universities, shouldering the task of teaching soccer skills to students, improving student’s health and prompting students to love football mission. But there exists some specific problems hindering the promotion of football with traditional modes of teaching football class cannot well enhance students’ enthusiasm as the main reason. For this, the purpose of this study is obtained by using two different teaching methods, with experimental group employ " match approach " football elective classes to enhance students’interest in learning sports, to improve the level of football skills, improve students’ physical health; while the control group traditional with a traditional teaching methods to improve students’interest in sports studies, raise the level of football skills, and improve student’s health condition. Research methods:literature, interviews, statistics, experiment and questionnaire methods are employed. Survey of2012North Academy male students soccer squad were chosen for the survey, four classes of which two randomly selected experimental classes and two control classes,25students per class were selected, with a total of100people involvedThe study concluded that match approach, compared to the traditional teaching method, can improve students’interest in learning sports, football skills and physical health. Note that the physical health of the height and weight exists no difference between control and experimental group which means match approach’s role of student to students’weight and height was not significant. Football selective courses should cultivate students’interest in learning, improve students’participation and initiative, so as to promote students to want to learn, willing to learn, and finally improve physical exercise effect and the quality of teaching and students; technology learning is the main elements of sport selective course. Only by equipping students with accurate technical action can higher students self-confidence and better complete the task of teaching sports.
