In the first part of this paper,according to the idea of composite trays,a flow-guided jet packing tray(FJPT)with high-throughput and high-efficiency is designed to meet the demand of industry.Using an air-water-oxygen system,the hydrodynamics and mass transfer performance of six experimental trays,including the clear liquid height,dry plate pressure drop,wet plate pressure drop,weeping,entrainment and tray efficiency,have been measured in a plexigass column with diameter of 0.5m at ambient pressure and temperature.By changing the size of the rectangular pore on the plate,the height of the cap bottom gap or the specific surface area of the packing in the cap,the structural factors affecting the performance of the plate were explored,and the performance of the FJPT was compared with that of the New VST simultaneously.The experimental results showed that smaller rectangular pores made higher clear liquid height and plate pressure drop,lower weeping and entrainment rate.The size of the rectangular pore had a suitable intermediate value to maximize the efficiency of the FJPT.The height change of the cap bottom gap had no effect on the dry plate pressure drop,while smaller height of the cap bottom gap made higher clear liquid height,wet pressure drop,weeping rate and tray efficiency,lower entrainment rate.Compared with the tray with Mellapak 250Y in the cap,the tray with Mellapak 500Y had slightly lower clear liquid height and wet plate pressure drop at a low gas velocity,which is on the contrary at a high gas velocity.In the whole range of the determination,the tray with Mellapak 500Y in the cap had higher dry plate pressure drop and tray efficiency,lower weeping and entrainment.Compared with New VST,the dry pressure drop of FJPT decreased by about 60%on average,wet pressure drop decreased over 60%.What's more,the weeping rate of FJPT declined faster,the upper limit of gas operation was higher and the tray efficiency increased by about 5%on average.According to the experimental data,the empirical formulas of the dry plate pressure drop and the wet plate pressure drop for six experimental trays have been obtained,with the relative deviation less than 5%.In addition,based on the principle of pressure drop generation and the factors influencing the pressure drop of FJPT,the theoretical model for calculating the dry plate pressure drop of FJPT has been established.The model can coincide with experimental data within 10%,proving that it has some guiding significance in the research and design of the FJPT.The study shows that the FJPT tray had the advantages of low pressure drop,high flux,high operating limit and high mass transfer efficiency.It is a kind of composite tray with excellent performance and will a good prospect in industrial application.
