| BackgroundMen who have sex with men refers to men who have had oral or anal sex with men,MSM had HIV/AIDS related high-risk behavior characteristics such as having their first sex at an early age,multiple sexual partners and low condom use,is a HIV(Human immunodeficiency virus)infected high-risk group.Research shows that men who have sex with men accounted for 4.3%in college.In recent years,HIV infection rate of college MSM students was growing rapidly.Most literature at present is studing sexual behavior characteristics and status of HIV/AIDS of common MSM,studies on sexual behavior characteristics or other behavioral characteristics of college MSM students were little.Understanding behavioral characteristics of college MSM students,and discussing influencing factors of sexual behaviors of college MSM students is of great significance to STD(sexually transmitted diseases)/AIDS prevention and control among college MSM students.So we conduct this survey to research behavioral characteristics and their influencing factors among college MSM students in 24 colleges of Qingdao city in Shandong province to provide a scientific basis of developing STD/AIDS prevention and control measures in college.ObjectivesTo understand the growth environment,sex related situation(sexual orientation,way of seeking sexual partners,sexual behaviors),psychological status,STD/HIV infection status,access to get HIV/AIDS related knowledge and reception of HIV/AIDS related services of college MSM students,and analyze influencing factors of sexual behaviors of college MSM students.Subjects and Methods1.SubjectsObjects of this study are college MSM students,the inclusion criteria of investigation is:①have had sex with a man;②studing at college;③with oral informed consent to accept this study.2.MethodsDesign of this study was cross-sectional survey.Respondents were recruited from October 12,2016 to October 28,2016 in Qingtong HIV Prevention Voluntary Service Center in Qingdao city of Shandong Province from 24 colleges by the staff and college student volunteers using convenience sampling and part of them were from snowball sampling by college student volunteers.The respondents were participated in anonymous self-administrated questionnaire investigation,the content of the questionnaire included demographic characteristics,growth environment,sex related situation,STD/HIV infection status,reception of HIV/AIDS related services,access to get HIV/AIDS related knowledge and psychological status.If the respondent was willing to test his HIV infection status,professionals would take 5ml venous blood and then send to lab for HIV testing in accordance with relevant requirements.3.Statistical AnalysisEpiData 3.1 was used to input survey data and then inconsistent entry was checked by refering to the original questionnaire.SPSS 20.0 was used to do statistical description of each variable.The analysis of influencing factors of sexual behaviors(engaged in group sex and not use condom though last male-to-male sex,had multiple male sexual partners last week and had commercial sex)was analyzed using chi-square test(qualitative data)and/test(quantitative data)in univariate analysis.Then variates in univariate analysis were selected to multivariate analysis if P<0.10.Multivariate analysis was conducted using binary unconditonal Logistic regression,the difference was statistically significant if P<0.05.Results1.304 college MSM students from 24 colleges were recruited.A total of 304 questionnaires were collected,among them 300 were valid,the qualification rate was 98.7%.The average age of respondents was 20.6 = 1.6 years old(17-26 years old).2.Among participants,the average age of the first sex was 17.6±1.8 years old.For their first male-to-male sex,50.3%did not use condoms continuely;4.3%engaged in group sex;8.7%had one night stand,0.7%had sex with their commercial sexual partners;2.7%was offered meth,rush,zero capsule or other drugs,1.3%was payed,0.7%was forced.For the last male-to-male sex,5%engaged in group sex;35.7%did not use condoms continuely;11%had one night stand,2.3%had sex with their commercial sexual partners;3.3%was offered meth,rush,zero capsule or other drugs,2.3%was payed.7.7%had multiple male sex partners last week.6.7%had commercial sex for money,ice,rush,zero capsule or other drugs.19.3%often feel anxious because of their sexual orientation,13.3%often feel depressed because of their sexual orientation.11%was diagnosised with STD.HIV positive rate was 3.4%.3.The analysis of influencing factors of sexual behaviors showed that the respondents who had their first sex at an early age had higher rate of not using condom in last male-to-male sex,the respondents who had their first male-to-male sex at an early age had higher rate of commercial sex.The rate of not using condom in last male-to-male sex of respondents who were anxious was 2.08 times(95%CI:1.14-3.80)compared to that of respondents who were not anxious.The rate of having multiple male sex partners last week of respondents who were anxious was 2.87 times(95%CI:1.09-7.56)compared to that of respondents who were not anxious.Respondents who usually seek sexual partners via non-internet ways had higher rate of engaging in group sex in last male-to-male sex than that of respondents who usually seek sexual partners via the internet.The rate of having multiple male sex partners last week of respondents who usually seek sexual partners via non-internet ways was 4.44 times(95%CI:1.66-11.88)compared to that of respondents who usually seek sexual partners via the internet.The rate of commercial sex of respondents who usually seek sexual partners via non-internet ways was 3.69 times(95%CI:1.26-10.79)compared to that of respondents who usually seek sexual partners via the internet.The rate of commercial sex of respondents who selected female sexual partners was 39.82 times(95%CI:1.86-854.58)compared to that of respondents who selected male sexual partners.The rate of commercial sex of respondents who selected male or female sexual partners was 3.43 times(95%CI:1.03-11.42)compared to that of respondents who selected only male sexual partners.ConclusionsCollege MSM students have HIV/AIDS related high-risk sexual behaviors such as having first sex at an early age,multiple sexual partners,engaging in group sex and commercial sex and low condom use.College MSM students also have anxiety,depression and other psychological problems.The rates of high-risk sexual behaviors are higher among college MSM students who had their first sex or male-to-male sex at an early age,usually seek sexual partners via non-internet ways,select female or male and female sexual partners and are anxious. |
