Investigation Of Status Of Hand Hygiene And Influence Factors Among The Nursing Assistants In Nursing Homes

Objective: This study aimed to explore the status of hand hygiene and influence factors among the nursing assistants in nursing homes in Chongqing.Methods: The study was performed from September to December 2016.A self-designed knowledge,attitude and practice table and influence factors table were used to investigate 260 nursing assistants in nursing homes in Chongqing.The hand hygiene observation tool was used to assess hand hygiene compliance.Results: The mean score of knowledge,attitude and practice are 42.3±16.93,48.0±16.80 and 51.5±17.28,respectively,which was at the low level.The knowledge,attitude and practice among the nurse assistants with different educational background and work age showed statistical significance(P<0.05).The overall compliance of hand hygiene were 6.8%,3.1%,1.9% from hospital affiliated nursing homes,public nursing homes and private nursing homes,which was especially low.The primary influence factors were lack of hand hygiene knowledge,positive attitude.Conclusion: The nursing assistants in nursing homes are in lack of hand hygiene knowledge,attitude and practice,and the compliance of hand hygiene was especially low.Improvement should be made accordingly.
