In recent years,because of the drastic increase in the number of people learning mandarin and the highly difficult to learn mandarin,the study of learning mandarin has been deeper and deeper.The video material is very interesting,with its help,the students can not only enjoy the cultural implications of the TV series,but also learn the language more easily in the mandarin class.This article consists of six parts:The first chapter is the introduction that introduces the reason,objective and significance of this article as well as the relevant study of the research in academic world.The second chapter summarizes the reason why we can use the TV series in mandarin class by introducing the theoretical support for the video material to be the medium of instruction,the characteristics of TV series,and analyzing the role of the TV series in teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Before the analysis,I collected and read a lot of data about the second language acquisition theories,learned the classification and development trend of TV series,in this way,I thought about how different video materials effect on teaching Chinese as a foreign language from different angles.The third chapter summarizes the principles for selecting video materials,which include normative language,moderate difficulty,suitable duration of the video materials,diversification of the subjects and so on.The teachers need to take all the aspects into consideration when choosing the video materials.Not every excellent television work is suitable to be teaching materials,some TV series are interesting,but the language may not be normative,some TV series has moderate difficulty,but may not adapt to teaching objectives.In addition,how to avoid religious conflicts is the question what teachers need to watch for when choosing the TV series.I give several examples for each point based on a lot of data.The fourth chapter is a questionnaire survey about using TV series in mandarin class.In the research,300 Filipino college students answered questionnaires,in this way,I realized their opinions about combining Chinese TV series with mandarin class which is helpful to teach mandarin in the future.In the fifth chapter,I choose the TV <Love O2O> as the teaching material to teach Filipino college students in a mandarin listening and speaking class.I recorded the whole teaching process which includes review,lead-in,play video,practice,cultural outreach,assignment and teaching reflection.At last,in the epilogue part,I summarized the study,reflected and thought about the research orientations in the future.
