Louis Althusser,a famous French Marxist theorist, once gained a reputation in the western academic circles by virtue of his two representative works,For Marx and Reading Capital. After World War II,in the war-torn Western European countries and the Socialist Campaign of Eastern Europe, some theorists believed that Marxism was the flood of humanism, and they set off a "humanistic Marxism" trend of thought in the western academic circles. In order to oppose this practice of humanizing Marxism,Althusser boldly put forward the slogan of "theoretical anti-humanism" in order to defend the orthodox theory of Marxist philosophy. For a while,Althusser and his theory became the focus of French theory at home and abroad.Firstly, this paper combs the historical development of humanitarian thought, explores the basis for the formation of humanitarian Marxist discourse, and explores the reason why Althusser put forward "theoretical anti-humanism" in the broad theoretical perspective of the development history of humanitarian thought. Then, based on the specific political background at that time and Althusser’s life experience, this paper expounds the main ideological connotation of the theory, analyses its relationship with Althusser’s other important theoretical propositions,in order to excavate the ideological core of the theory and confirm its importance in Althusser’s ideological system and even in the history of the development of Marxist philosophy.Position.At the same time,by combining historical materials with texts, this paper explores the controversial aspects of the theory and its impact on the two major schools of post-structuralism and post-Marxism.At the end of the article, the author gives a general evaluation of Althusser’s "theoretical anti-humanism",focusing on the proposition itself and the ideological value of the theory. It affirms its position in the history of the development of Humanism, highlights its unique theoretical contributions, and clarifies the limitations of the theory.
