With the development of economic globalization,the importance of English learning is becoming more and more prominent,and English learning is becoming younger and younger.However,one of the major problems facing children's English education is that the English level of graduates of preschool education major is generally weak.This disconnection leads to a serious shortage of English teachers in kindergarten and the teachers are not qualified and cannot meet the needs of career development in the new situation.This study aims to find the differences between the preschool education major and English education major through a comparative study of learning strategies and motivation between the two majors by a questionnaire survey,in order to propose suggestions and countermeasures for the teaching and learning of preschool education major.This study used the achievement motivation scale developed by Norwegian scholars Gjesme and Nygard and the learning strategy scale adapted by Song zhu.The questionnaire survey was conducted on 450 students in the nine classes of the sophomore year of the preschool education and English education major in a normal college.Spss17.0 was used to conduct descriptive statistics and difference analysis of the obtained data,and here are the following conclusions.This study come to the conclusion by analyzing the correlation between achievement motivation and learning strategies of preschool education major and English education major:1)There is no significant difference in achievement motivation of pursuing success and avoiding failure;2)Students in English education major use English learning strategies more than those in preschool education major.In terms of the six learning strategies,English education major's students use memory strategy,cognitive strategy and social strategy significantly more than those in preschool education major,while there was no significant difference in compensation strategy,meta-cognitive strategy and emotional strategy;3)There is a positive correlation between the motivation of pursuing success and the use of learning strategies in the two majors;There was no significant correlation between the motivation to avoid failure and the use of learning strategies;The correlation between motivation and foreign language learning strategy in English education major is stronger than that in preschool education major;4)The achievement motivation of thetwo majors can obviously predict the learning strategies;The interpretation ratio of English education major is higher than that of preschool education major.The stronge the learner's achievement motivation,the more it can affect the use of learning strategies.Therefore,teachers should take appropriate measures to stimulate students' achievement motivation as much as possible,to promote students to learn foreign languages more durable and more effectively;Consciously using cognitive strategy to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability;Encourage the use of social strategy;Develop memory strategy in English learning.This can effectively motivate preschool education students to learn English and improve the teaching and learning of preschool education major's English.
