Suggestopedia was founded in the 1960 s by Bulgarian educational psychologist Lozanov and became a sensation in many countries around the world.In the 21 st century,a new round of curriculum reform was launched in China,which required to change the old teaching method,emphasizing a student-centered way.The reform also paid attention to the situational,cooperative,generative,experiential and constructive nature of the curriculum.In this new context,could Suggestopedia continue to play its role in the field of English teaching,or how would it develop? We combined Suggestopedia with Junior Middle School English teaching to conduct the application research.Suggestopedia integrated and synchronized listening,speaking,reading and writing skills.We used the six technologies of Suggestopedia which included authority,infantilization,double-planeness,intonation,rhythm,and concer pseudopassivity.Using Educational Experiment Method,Literature Research Method and Investigation Method combined with the text of 7B Unit2-Unit8(Yilin Press),we applied Suggestopedia to the experimental class,the traditional English teaching method is still used in the control class.The results of the experiment were as followed: After the experiment,the Average Gap was 10.979,the Average Standard Error was 3.523,T=3.117,P=0.003(P<0.05),the difference between experimental class and control class was obvious.It proved that Suggestopedia had significant effect on the academic record of Junior Middle School English learners.According to the results of questionnaires and interviews,Suggetopedia indeed had a positive impact on the emotional factors,identification,learning strategies and teaching input.We followed the teaching procedures of Suggestopedia.The research design and the experimental process of the lesson Down the Rabbit Hole were used as a case study.After analyzing and discussing the results of the experiment,it is concluded that creating English situation is the prerequisite for achieving good teaching results.It is necessary for teachers to give full play to the subject value and multi-psychological functions of students.The teachers also need to highlight the dominant role of students.Meanwhile,the construction of meaning is helpful for developing Suggestopedia.
