With the rapid development of information technology,all walks of life are pursuing deep integration with modern information technology to seek new development.The field of education is no exception.The emergence and application of various technologies such as the Internet,big data,cloud computing and mobile terminals will definitely set off a new wave of education reform.Corresponding to this,the 2017 edition of the National English Curriculum requests that "English teachers should make the best of modern technologies in teaching so as to create an information-based teaching environment,which is of great significance to improve students learning efficiency and cultivate their core competence.In addition,the National English curriculum attaches great importance to various learning approaches such as individual learning,cooperative learning and inquiry learning.Accordingly,teachers are requested to design learning activities that integrate language,culture and thinking as a whole so that students can acquire,interpret and judge while reading.Due to its unique management model,boarding ethnic schools are not so accessible to teaching resources and equipment,resulting in relatively enclosed and monotonous living and learning environment.When it comes to the teaching of English reading,both the intensive reading and the extensive reading is not enough due to the limitations of teaching resources and approaches.As a consequence,students’ language knowledge and skills can’t be strengthened in the course of reading,nor will multilevel teaching and personalized learning be achieved.There is no doubt that the teaching of English reading like this does no good to increasing ethnic students’ knowledge and developing their reading and thinking abilities such as multiple thinking,critical thinking and creative thinking,which definitely failed to meet the requirements of the National English curriculum and the core English competence.Worse still,ethnic students’ comprehensive competence can’t be cultivated and the goal of training smart ethnic minorities can’t be reached.The idea of smart classroom teaching is a possible approach to improving theteaching of reading in boarding ethnic schools.On the basis of the constructionism theory,the Humanistic theory,the Blend-learning theory and the Core Competence of English,this study researches and analyzes the current situation of the teaching of English reading.Through the Internet,smart phones,Online reading groups and other modern information technological means,the author tries to overcome all the limitations of boarding ethnic schools and implement a smart classroom teaching model in the teaching of English reading in boarding ethnic school,which contributes to a deep integration between modern educational technology and the teaching of English reading.To test the effect of the smart classroom teaching model,this research carried out an experiment that lasted for a whole semester.108 students were chosen as research subjects and they belong to two classes.The author adopted smart classroom teaching model in both classes.This paper adopts research methods like questionnaire,interview and tests and uses SPSS22.0 statistics to analyze collected materials during the experiment.It is concluded that the smart classroom teaching model has obvious advantages and contributes a lot to promoting students reading level.The main advantages are as follows.First,this teaching model achieved flipping class and expands learning space.Second,this teaching model contributes to multilevel teaching and personalized learning.Third,this teaching model helps build online resource platform and expand teaching resources.Last,this teaching model increases students’ interests and stimulates their enthusiasm in learning English.Finally,there are two important implications.First,teachers should adopt a students-centered approach to the teaching of English reading and attach more importance to the progress of each student as an individual.Second,teachers are supposed to make the best of smart classroom teaching to train smart talents as smart classroom teaching fosters students’ critical thinking and creative thinking.
