The drug problem hinders the development of the country and endangers the well-being of the people.Drug control has always been a major measure to achieve national rejuvenation. In recent years,China has continuously improved the drug control system featuring drug control, drug prevention, drug enforcement and drug rehabilitation,so as to promote the sound development of the drug situation.Anti-drug social work,as part of the drug control system, carries the tasks of drug prevention and detoxification, and plays an important role in drug prevention publicity and drug rehabilitation. However, the development of China's anti-drug social work is still immature. Therefore, research on the localization of practical methods of anti-drug social work is helpful to promote the development of anti-drug social work and improve the effectiveness of drug control. In this study, the peer education service of anti-drug social work is selected as the research object.Taking Pearl River Delta region with mature service development as an example, survey data are collected through field observations,semi-structured interviews, and text analysis. It summarizes and sorts out the development history, the exploration path and application status of peer education services, and further discusses the local application and dilemma of peer education services based on the current situation research. The discussion of local applications includes the basis and conditions of peer education application, the application methods of peer education services, the roles and responsibilities of peer educators, the roles and responsibilities of social workers, and the risks and monitoring of peer education services. Finally, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote the local development of peer education services.Based on field research, this study mainly draws the following conclusions:Firstly, the exploration path of peer education service in the anti-drug social work is mainly divided into three stages. The first stage is for social workers to encourage drug addicts to become volunteers. The second stage is for social workers to select suitable volunteers to cultivate as peer educators. The third stage is for social workers to support the employment of peer educators as social workers.Secondly, the application basis and conditions of peer education services in anti-drug social work are divided into macro, meso, and micro conditions. The macro foundation is the policy environment that promotes the development of anti-drug social work and the industry environment that fosters local peer education services. The meso condition is the systematic and professional management of the organization, the support and trust of the relevant parties for the service, and the continuity and stability of the service project. The micro conditions are professional talents.Thirdly, peer educators carry out peer education through case counseling, group work,anti-drug publicity, admission education, social advocacy and family visits in the roles of volunteers, coordinators, propagandists, advocates, counselors, helpers and facilitators.Fourthly, the roles of social workers in peer education services include counselors, screeners, educators, mentors, companions, and supervisors.Fifthly, the risks of peer education services include cross-infection,peer educators sheltering drug addicts and relapses, peer educators using convenience to become hidden drug users, and criminals relying on peer education services to expand the drug trafficking market.Risks need to be monitored through the establishment of peer educator screening mechanisms, management systems, and service monitoring mechanisms.
