Comparing to Chinese language,mathematics and foreign language,the discipline of sports is not paid enough attention.In rural areas,the problem of its unbalanced development is more obvious,such as the poor quality of physical education(PE),lacking of extracurricular sports activities,etc.After years of development,the situation is still not optimistic,and some regions even appear to be in a halt which negatively impact the improvement of sport discipline in rural areas.Rural PE teachers have an irresponsible responsibility who play the leading role of sport discipline under this circumstance.Therefore,it is very important to pay attention to the professional identity of rural PE teachers.Based on previous studies,we went deep into the first-line of rural schools.The narrative analysis and one-on-one interviews were used to deeply understand the working environments,work conditions,and working attitudes of rural PE teachers.From the perspective of structure and mobility,the study identified factors affecting the professional identity of rural PE teachers according to the information provided by the respondents and the characteristics of professional identity.This research provided the situation for the study subjects to re-understand themselves,proposed strategies for the promotion of professional identity of rural PE teachers.And it can also offer a reference for the extensive education workers,especially in rural areas,when thinking about their own work situations.This study can be divided into the following parts:The first part summarized the contents of necessities,development trends and methods related to this research.The second part analyzed and presented the status of the respondents' professional identity based on the stories of professional identities of the rural PE teachers who were interviewed.The third part found the factors affecting professional identities of the rural PE teachers from the theory of structure-mobility which was based on the primary data of 6 rural PE teachers from the second part,and proposed strategies for the promotion of professional identity of rural PE teachers.The fourth part was the conclusions which summarized the main factors and upgrade strategiesaffecting professional identity of rural PE teachers.The 7 factors were individual cognition differences,difficulties in promotion,inadequate salaries,poor teaching environment,indifference of school leaders,outdated family education concepts,limitations of PE teacher's post system respectively.The upgrade strategies contained the emphasis and support on rural sports education from relevant departments,more investment in rural sports education,improvement of PE teachers' professional status,implement of the special post program for rural PE teachers,attraction and retainment for highly educated personnel,establishment of supervision mechanisms to ensure the substantive improvement of the salaries,requirement of optimizing quality,improving management skills,improving interpersonal skills and abilities to manage time,rational coordination of posts,and settlement of the difficulties in post promotion.The fifth part were the reflection and shortcomings of this research.
