Phonetic Research Of Mengyin Dialect

Mengyin County is a county under the jurisdiction of Linyi City,Shandong Province,located in the northwest of Linyi City,south-central part of Shandong Province.From the perspective of Chinese Mandarin Division,Mengyin is located in the transitional zone of the three major dialect areas:Zhongyuan Mandarin,Jilu Mandarin and Jiaoliao Mandarin.By means of field investigation,description and comparison,this paper records the phonetics of five townships in Mengyin County,makes a systematic study of the phonetics of Mengyin Dialect,shows the basic phonetic features of Mengyin Dialect,and provides the phonetic and literal data for the record and preservation of Mengyin Dialect.The full text consists of six parts,which are summarized as follows:The introduction part introduces the general situation of Mengyin County,combs and summarizes the research status of Mengyin Dialect,expounds the research purpose,significance,scope,object,method,source of materials,compiles the information of the dialect investigators into tables,finally explains the annotation symbols used in the article.The first chapter is study on phonology of Mengyin Dialect.Firstly,Sorting out the voice data of five survey points,describing and analysing the phonological system and its characteristics of Mengyin Dialect.For example,there are interdental consonants,no flash and fricative tones;there is no "n" ending in the vowel,and the "n" ending in Putonghua is nasalized in Mengyin Dialect;Lack of flat tone,most of them are falling tone.Then summarizing the relationship of combinations of initial、finals and tones in Mengyin Dialect,list the combination table of initials and finals.The second chapter is a synchronic comparative study of Mengyin Dialect.Firstly,Comparing the phonological system of Mengyin Dialect with that in Putonghua from three aspects of initial 、 finals and tones,then summarizing the phonetic characteristics of Mengyin Dialect.For example,In putonghua,the apical pronunciations of the tongue make interdental sounds in Mengyin Dialect " t?、t??、? ";Compared with putonghua,the pronunciation of some complex finals in upper Mengyin Dialect is shorter,it becomes a single vowe the tone;The tone value of Mengyin Dialect is also very different from that of putonghua.Then the synchronic comparative study is carried out on selected dialect points and Mengyin Dialects from the official dialects of Jilu,Jiaoliao and Zhongyuan.By comparing with the surrounding dialects,it can be seen that there are more or less three dialect features in Mengyin Dialect,reflecting the characteristics of the dialect pronunciation in the transitional zone.The third chapter is a diachronic comparative study of Mengyin Dialect.This chapter mainly compares the phonological systems of Mengyin Dialect with those of<Guangyun>,< Zhongyuan Phonology> and <Lishi Yinjian>,in order to test the ancient sounds of Mengyin Dialect,reveal the law of phonological development,and explore the origin of tones in Mengyin Dialect.Through comparison,we can see some evolution rules of Mengyin Dialect,such as most of the voiced initials in the Middle Ages followed the rule of "level tones aspirated but oblique tones unaspirated" became devoicing.The finals of "ɑ、iɑ、uɑ" in Mengyin Dialect mainly come from the photographs of "Jia、Xian、Shan" in the middle ancient pronunciation,level tones are divided into Yin tones and Yang tones,the rising tones which belong to voiced tones become falling tones,etc.The fourth chapter is the monographic study of Mengyin Dialect.The first two topics have studied the differences between the pronunciation and vernacular of Mengyin Dialect between the old and the new.Through the research,it is found that the reasons for the differences are not only the result of the development of language at the diachronic level,but also the result of the development of language at the synchronic level.The third topic analyses the phenomenon of Erhua in Mengyin Dialect.Through the research,it is found that the differences between the Erhua in Mengyin Dialect and Putonghua are mainly reflected in phonetics and vocabulary.The conclusion summarizes the phonetic characteristics of Mengyin Dialect,points out the shortcomings of this study,and looks forward to the future research direction.
