Along with China's policy guidance on overseas projects,overseas engineering projects develop rapidly in recent years.Company R,under the environment of increasingly intensive competition in Chinese environmental engineering market,is as well seeking opportunities to break through the market.With positive policy conditions and the continuous improvement of Chinese engineering companies' abilities,company R successfully contracted the L overseas desalination project and gained the reputation in the industry.However,due to inexperience of overseas project contracting and the first time implementation of the overseas desalination system,company R repeatedly delayed the deadline of the project,which had a negative impact on its reputation and project profit.Therefore it is significant to improve the project's schedule management,in order to gain a positive company image,as well as obtain greater project benefits.Based on the case of L overseas desalination project,in accordance with the ideas of finding,analyzing and solving problems,this thesis analyzed and studied progress management improving in overseas engineering projects.In this case,the existing problems were described in three aspects: schedule planning,schedule control,and schedule risk management.Management principles and methods of project schedule plan and project schedule control and project risk were introduced to analyze the progressing problem.And the influencing factors of the project schedule were discussed in depth.In conclusion,the following points are influential factors: unscientific schedule planning,inadequate project schedule monitoring,and the ignorance of risk management.On the basis,solutions are correspondingly focusing on improving schedule monitoring mechanisms and methods,as well as controlling the impact of risk factors on project schedules.Lastly,by strengthening the application and popularization of project management software,establishing an overseas project schedule risk evaluation system,strengthening the construction of the staff training system,as well as reinforcing intercultural communication.This thesis studied the schedule problems of the L overseas seawater desalination project with a case study method of demonstration.The problem analysis and suggestions,which have been discussed in this thesis,on one hand,would increase company R's overseas project management capabilities,avoid same issues in similar overseas projects in the future,improve the achievement of project schedules,and enable the company to establish a good image in the industry and obtain more project benefits.On the other hand,it can also play a significant role that provide schedule management of similar overseas environmental engineering projects for reference.
