Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture with three neck needles and plum blossom needle percussion in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(cold wind obstruction syndrome). Methods The included patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 30 patients in each group. The control group was treated by simple acupuncture with three needles in the neck. The observation group was treated with three acupuncture needles in the neck combined with plum needle percussioning. The total effective rate, visual analogue scale(VAS),cervical dysfunction index(NDI),curative effect score of cervical spondylosis and TCM syndrome score were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After the treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group and the control group was 93.3% and 86.7%,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,VAS,NDI,curative effect score of cervical spondylosis and TCM syndrome score in 2 groups were improved compared with before treatment. The improvement of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture with three neck needles combined with plum blossom needle percussion can better improve the symptoms and the signs of patients with radiculotype cervical spondylopathy(cold wind obstruction syndrome).
