In recent years,many universities have established English websites,hoping to communicate more effectively with the international community.The English website plays an important role in the international exchanges of Tianjin University.It is an important gateway for the international community to know Tianjin University and an important platform for Tianjin University to show itself to the world.Therefore,accurate news translation on the English website is of great importance in international communication.Under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this study further promotes the development of communicative translation theory in news translation.Communicative translation theory emphasizes the effect of translation,that is,the translation of lexical items and sentence structures must conform to the thinking pattern of the target readers.In terms of lexical translation,the translation strategies of culture-loaded words and category words are transliteration,interpretation,and omission to communicate with readers.The communicative translation theory aims to minimize obstacles for readers,so this study adopts the translation methods such as voice conversion,part-of-speech conversion and reorganization method to adjust the sentence structure of the original text.Communicative translation emphasizes that the effect of translated text should be equivalent to that of original text.Therefore,the news translation also needs to meet the characteristics of the news and the author edits and integrates the original information based on the characteristics of English news.
