In 2017,after the revision of the English Curriculum Standard for senior middle schools,the core literacy of English subject has been defined,which includes four aspects: language ability,thinking quality,cultural character and learning ability,then every school has organized to study the core literacy of English subject,from 2017 to2019,the researcher find that the research on the application of core competencies in English listening and speaking courses less than the application of core competencies in English reading courses.Researcher believes that listening and speaking,as the basis of English learning,should be important.Therefore,in this study,the researcher mainly resolves three questions: What is the current status of the core literacy of English subject applied to listening and speaking teaching? Based on the core disciplines,in what ways can we optimize the teaching design of English listening and speaking class in junior high school? And how effective is the implementation of the optimized teaching design?This study used a questionnaire survey of 20 teachers in Yongjia Middle School in Tongliang district of Chongqing to understand teachers’ knowledge of the core literacy of English subject and the status of their application in English listening and speaking lessons in junior high school.The comparative analysis of teaching cases is used to summarize how to design the listening and speaking course based on the core literacy of the subject to achieve the optimization of teaching and in which aspects can achieve the optimization of teaching.In order to test the effect of teaching,researchers used one semester of teaching practice to compare the students’ final grades to obtain the research results.According to the questionnaire survey,teachers did not have a high degree of understanding to the core literacy of the subject,they did not pay much attention to the listening and speaking class,and they didn’t apply it to English listening and speaking class.A comparative analysis of the results found that the optimized teaching based on the core literacy of the subject was effective.Researchers have made several suggestions on teaching junior middle school English listening and speaking lessonsbased on the core literacy of the subject.This study can give some suggestions to teachers who only focus on the syntactic explanation and language knowledge and who don’t pay attention to cultivate students’ learning ability and other abilities in English listening and speaking class.
