| With the development of times,English becomes an important tool of communication.The English course was set from grade 3 of primary school in China except some areas from grade 1.As far as primary school English teaching is concerned,how to use effective teaching methods to increase pupils’ interest in learning English and classroom efficiency has become an important problem in daily teaching.From the perspective of pedagogy and linguistics,the author takes constructivism theory,input hypothesis proposed by Krashen and the situational cognitive theory as the main theoretical basis and takes the textbook of the second volume for grade five of the People’s Education Edition as the teaching material to do the experiment.The author chooses two classes she taught for the experiment,one of them is identified as the experimental class and the other as the control class.The author applies the Situational Language Teaching in experimental class and adopts the traditional teaching methods in control class for one semester.The teaching content are taught in both classes is the same.By means of literature analysis,questionnaire and test,this thesis analyzes the scores of the final exam of experimental class and control class and the effectiveness ways of using Situational Language Teaching.This thesis tries to answer the following three questions: 1.What is the present situation of the application of Situational Language Teaching in primary school English teaching? 2.Can Situational Language Teaching increase the pupils’ interest and improve the pupils’ English scores in English learning? 3.How to apply the Situational Language Teaching to primary school English teaching efficiently?This thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction,about the research background,research purpose and research significance.The second chapter is the literature review which consists of the following two aspects: Firstly,it explains the three important theoretical bases of situational teaching: constructivism theory,input hypothesis theory and the situational cognitive theory.Secondly,this thesis analyzes the research status of Situational Language Teaching at home and abroad.The third chapter describes the research methods used in this thesis which includes research subjects,research questions,research instruments and research procedures.The fourth chapter summarizes and analyzes the research results.Chapter 5 is the conclusion which mainly discusses the research results,the enlightenment of Situational Language Teaching to primary school English teaching and the deficiency of research and the feasibility and necessity of applying Situational Language Teaching widely in primary school English teaching.According to the study,the author points out that the proper use of Situational Language Teaching in primary school English teaching can increase students’ interest in learning English and improve their scores in exam effectively.It is a very effective teaching method in primary school English teaching. |
