| Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of applied translation studies, which have gradually infiltrated into all walks of life, including economy, politics, science and technology, law, business, medicine, etc. The study of applied translation involves theories, strategies as well as methodology. The source text of the present translation report focuses on marine science and environment, which belongs to applied translation studies. The principal reason why the author chooses this text is that ever-increasing use of fossil fuels, climate change and other climate factors have led to the accumulation of the total amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which in turn results in the aggravation of ocean acidification. The purpose of the author’s translation practice is to summarize the translation strategies and strengthen the understanding of the importance of marine protection.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the author analyzes the translation practice from three levels of lexicon, syntax and discourse, and finally summarizes the translation strategies and skills of such texts.Through translation, the views and research results of foreign countries may be presented to the native researchers in this field, but the author’s own translation capacity may be enhanced as well.It is sincerely wished that valuable reference would be offered for future translators of this type of texts, meanwhile mistakes would be diminished due to the differences between the Chinese and English languages, and finally the language service quality of marine science texts may be improved as a result. |
