This dissertation is a practical report on the translation of the book DK Eyewitness Travel Guide Canada,which describes the tourist attraction,special food and cultural environment of Canada in wonderful language,which will arouse many readers’ desire of traveling there.The tourism text belongs to summon type and informational text,to provide detailed information for readers and tourists on a scenic spots and tourist guidance.Based on the guidance of Skopos theory the author of the thesis will study and analyze the translation of the parts of the book from three levels: lexis,syntax and discourse.As to tourist text,the translation should focus on the target language readers,and the translated text should be both fluent,colorful and faithful in order to make readers to have interests in it.In the process of reading comprehension,the translator summarizes the typically long sentences and sentences with local characteristics that are difficult to understand and translate and the place names in order to find a suitable and unified translation methods,so as not to be inconsistent and cause inconvenience to the target language readers.The translator hopes that the text can be translated faithfully and easily understood,so as to write a translation report with valuable reference,which can be of referential significance for future research on tourism translation texts.This practice report consists of four parts altogether.The first chapter is the introduction of translation task,which is mainly composed of three parts: the introduction to the original texts,the readers’ requirements and the significance and purpose of the task.The second chapter is the description of the process of translation tasks,which consists of three stages: the preparation,the process and the revision of the translation.The third chapter is case analysis that is the key part of this report.By using method of induction,sorting and analyzing in translation practice,the author illustrates the points from lexical,syntactical and textual levels by using enough examples,then proposed the corresponding translation methods and strategies.In this chapter the author also talks about the appearance of three beauties: sound beauty,form beauty and sense beauty in translation.The fourth chapter is the reflection and summary of the translation practice.The author summarizes the shortcomings in the translation practice and the discussion on the translator’s quality.It is hoped that this translation practice report will be of referential value to the translation and translation studies of similar texts.
